Hey,

I've just published an article on how font sizing worked in sIFR 2  
and will work in sIFR 3. You can read it here: <http://

I've also been hunting down an interesting Safari bug, of which I'll  
write a post later. You can see the testcases here: <http:// 
tests.novemberborn.net/browsers/safari/fscommand-redraw/>. The bug  
has yet to be reported to the Webkit team, that'll be done tomorrow.

One more silly question, Mark, will we be able to sIFR form elements like
textfields and textareas when you are done with this? Or maybe that's just
crazytalk, I don't know, I'm tired and worn out from battling in the snow.

How about dynamically setting the width and height according to the actual
size of the Flash content? You mentioned you were going to give it a go. :-/

Hmm, http://dev.novemberborn.net/sifr3/svn/test/demo.html doesn't work in
Firefox btw, I think I mentioned it before... It doesn't render any Flash at
all, the sIFRing isn't taking place... Maybe you've got this bug report from
me or someone else already, but I just wanted to make sure you were aware of
it.

Thanks for mentioning it. But hey, as the filename says, it's a  
demo... it still needs proper testing with different Flash versions  
and browsers. The demo basically shows that the algorithm works.

Not as far as I'm aware, no. In a way it's much like selecting an  
image (where the alt text is selected), instead that in this case  
it's not visible.

While quite useful, FlashObject is too abstract to be of use for  
sIFR. As there are a number of browser-related intricacies we have to  
be dealing with, rolling our own is the best way. That said, Geoff  
helped me with some of the detection stuff.
